Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is

October 6th, 2017

Let me get right to the point: We need your deposits in Adams Dairy Bank in order to make loans to your neighbors and businesses right here in our community. Not all other banks and credit unions do that.

Community banks like Adams Dairy Bank are usually locally owned. Even some larger regional banks are locally owned and serve the greater good of the areas we live in.

Take a good, hard look at your bank or credit union. What appears to be a locally owned institution may actually be owned by a larger bank located elsewhere in the U.S. or abroad. When you make deposits in that bank the funds become available for loans elsewhere, not necessarily here locally, where we need it most.

Whenever possible, I put my money where my mouth is. I buy local. I invest local. And I certainly bank local. So why doesn’t everyone? They simply don’t know how important it is to bank local.

Where you choose to bank is a socially responsible decision. If you knew you were shopping at a store where all the merchandise came from overseas, would you still shop there? Or would you seek a locally owned alternative? Banking is a very similar, if not a more important decision.

Not only do your deposits in a locally owned bank turn into loans to your neighbors and local businesses, but the income earned by Adams Dairy Bank are returned to our local shareholders. These shareholders reinvest their profits right here in our back yard. And when we succeed, the entire community succeeds.

When we ask you to do your banking with our local bank we’re not asking you to give up anything. The interest we pay our depositors is as good, if not better than other banks and credit unions. When a business banks with us they gain the benefit of our no monthly fee business accounts. No monthly fees saves our business customers thousands of dollars each year, again helping our local economy grow.

Not sure if your current bank or credit union is locally owned? Ask us and we’ll do the research for you. Community banks across the country are making a statement and our bank is joining in. When you bank local you are fulfilling your social responsibility to make your community a better place.

Yes, I put my money where my mouth is. Won’t you?
